A group of seven employees have successfully completed a 2-day Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course at our Sheffield Training Centre.
MHFA is an internationally-recognised training course, designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis. The course provides the skills, knowledge and understanding of first aid for mental health and how to effectively support those experiencing distress. The course aims to empower both individuals in the workplace and communities to understand the signs and symptoms of mental health issues and how best to support themselves and those around them in recovery.
Tom Armstrong, Director of Quality, Compliance & Training, said: “Raising awareness of mental health within the Skills People Group is key to achieving a safe and supportive learning environment. Early recognition will benefit staff to identify issues and prevent mental health issues from becoming more serious.’’
The course has proved very popular as many people can relate to the content and know someone who is adversely affected by the stresses of modern day life.
